Design And Specification
The name says it all, right? This is a watered-down version of Amazfit Bip, and it has a similar design. The device has a square face with chunky edges on all sides. Amazfit has pasted her name on the space below the screen. Bip Lite has a always reflective 1.28 inch screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It also appears to have an anti-ghost coating that helps prevent fingerprints. There is one button on Bip Lite, on the right side, which is the Alert / Return button. Swipe on screen to navigate the watch’s user interface.
At the back, it has a heart rate sensor and charging pins. Amazfit Bip Lite comes with a silicone strap. These 20 mm tapes are replaceable and you can replace them with other compatible tapes of the same width. The straps feature a watch-like clasp which makes it easy to wear and reduces the chances of the device accidentally leaving.
Amazfit uses a charger special for Bip Lite. It’s pretty big and looks a lot like laying off the watch for convenience while charging. Although we don’t like owned chargers, Bip Lite claims incredible battery life which should prevent anxiety from dropping battery.
We found Amazfit Bip Lite comfortable, weighing just 32 grams. You will hardly notice it on your wrist while wearing it, and we can sleep with it to track sleep without discomfort. Bip Lite is compatible with both Android and iOS, and we have used it with Samsung Galaxy S9 + throughout this test.
Performance and Battery life
We put Amazfit Bip Lite through our standard tests to see how well it works compared to some of the other fitness machines we used. We manually counted 1000 steps to check step count accuracy on Amazfit Bip Lite and we were glad to see that he scored 1002 steps. This is very good and indicates that you can rely on this device to track your daily step goal. Bip Lite didn’t score steps while we were driving or riding a motorcycle, which made the overall margin of error very small.
Tracking distance was next in the list. Amazfit Bip Lite does not have its own GPS receiver, so it relies on the paired smartphone to measure location and distance. We drove for an exact distance we knew, 1 km, which Bip Lite recorded 0.85 km. This could be because of the tree cover on our test track which turned off the phone’s GPS. Since the watch is completely dependent on the GPS accuracy of the smartphone, your results may vary.
Bip Lite can track activities including outdoor running, hiking, cycling and walking. If you do any of these things a lot, you can set up a shortcut to run it by pressing and holding the button. You can also set alerts based on the heart rate, speed and covered distance alert for all activities.
Continuous heart rate can be tracked on Amazfit Bip Lite. You can set different time intervals between 1 and 30 minutes for continuous tracking, and we set them for 1 minute for the duration of this review. We found it somewhat accurate. In Activity Tracking mode, Bip Lite keeps track of the wearer’s heart rate constantly.
The Amazfit Bip Lite is a watch-like fitness wearable that does tracking very well and offers acceptable battery life. We like that the Bip Lite is feather-light and doesn’t make its presence felt on the hand. Step and sleep tracking are accurate, and the Bip Lite can pull notifications from the smartphone. However, the display isn’t great in terms of visibility indoors.
