Redmi Earbuds S – Punchier Sound,Up to 12 Hours
Color: Black Brand: Redmi
Specification And Features
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the design of the Redmi Earbuds S is the weight; The headphones weigh only 4.1g each. This makes the headset among the most comfortable wireless earphones today, and the earbuds easily stayed in our ears without any support.
The fit inside the canal results in decent noise isolation, and you get three pairs of silicone ear tips in the box, making it easy to get the correct fit. The earbuds are IPX4 rated for water resistance, enough to protect against accidental splashes and little to no sweat.
The earbuds themselves are pill-shaped, and look simple yet delicious. Each earbud has a large outward facing button, used to control playback (one-press to play, pause, or answer calls), voice commands (double-tap calls the virtual voice assistant on your smartphone) and low latency mode (triple press to switch it) on Redmi Earbuds S.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to control the volume or skip the audio tracks from the earbuds themselves; You will have to edit this on the source device. The controls are the same regardless of which earbud you use.
The charging case of the Redmi Earbuds S is neither too small nor too large and looks good. There are magnets that keep the cover closed and also allow the headphones to stay in place. The Redmi logo on the case cover is the only one on the entire product, and the back of the case has a Micro-USB port for charging. Although the Micro-USB port is not ideal in the USB Type-C era, it helps to keep costs down and contributes to lowering the price of the Redmi Earbuds S.
The earbuds support the SBC Bluetooth codec, and each one has a 7.2mm driver. There is Bluetooth 5 for connectivity, and the earbuds don’t have a master and slave setup so you can use any headphone separately. Environmental noise cancellation is also supported for voice calls.
The headset promises four hours of battery life on the earbuds and two additional charging cycles from the case; We were able to match these claims during the review.
Redmi Earbuds S is light and fits easily in both ears. Twist it a little aside for the ultimate fit and you are good to go. Xiaomi claims that each of them, at around 4.1g, is lighter than an A4 sheet. All claims regardless, these are definitely a very lightweight pair of earbuds.
The build quality is very durable, with each earbud having a button. Long press to the right for about 3-4 seconds to pair via bluetooth. You will have to use the buttons on each of them to operate it. First, pair the right pair, then choose the left one.
Short press and they will pair. The earbuds may be used separately if needed. Redmi Earbuds S are rated IPX4 and thus are sweat and stain resistant. Since they are light and fit the ears properly, there is no risk of them falling out while doing a light exercise.
The earbuds come in three earbuds in different sizes: small, medium and large. However, a micro-USB charging cable is not provided with the package.
We’ve heard great sound quality from high-end true wireless earphones, but the affordable part is still a long way off. However, we’ve seen things improve, and the budget segment has a few options that sound very good for the price.
Redmi Earbuds S is one such product, offering clean, and capable wireless sound
Although limited to the basic SBC Bluetooth codec, the Redmi Earbuds S looks good. We found the sound clean and inoffensive, and surprisingly it was on par with or better than what we tested in the neckband wireless earbuds for the same price. Redmi Earbuds S gives users the benefits of true wireless connectivity without any of the sacrifices that usually come with the design.
We’re used to hearing some anomalies in audio reproduction when using exceptionally affordable audio products, but the Redmi Earbuds S didn’t have any of the rough edges or tuning flaws that we’d typically hear on affordable wireless earbuds. Upon hearing about Big Wild’s Aftergold, we were impressed by how comfortable and clean the sound was.
Although we didn’t hear any brilliance or emotionally charged driving down this path, we found the performance to be capable of far beyond what we had expected, given the sub-elements. There’s just enough width and depth to the sound to make it enjoyable, with some noticeable feel to the direction of the sound, and hints of subtle detail reveal themselves.
Frequency responses were measured in this lively and optimistic track, as lows and highs got a boost. The mid-range wasn’t extraordinarily boring, with Tove Styrke’s high-pitched vocals sounding good. The acoustic signature is suitable for more popular genres, and looks good even with the most intense tracks like Deadmau5’s Raise Your Weapon, thanks to the calculated and gentle punch in the bass.
Redmi Earbuds S is acceptable for voice calls; We didn’t encounter any major connection quality issues in indoor environments, and the connection was generally stable across use cases as well. The low latency mode slightly improved our experience when playing at the cost of a slight drop in sound quality, although we still saw a slight delay in audio that could mean the difference between winning or losing in fast-paced games. Environmental noise cancellation should aid use in noisy outdoor environments, but we were not able to effectively test this feature.
Even though we’ve heard a lot of true wireless earbuds , we’ve always been skeptical whether it can sound good and work just fine. Xiaomi has shown that it is possible to sell good audio products at surprisingly low prices, first with Mi Dual-Driver Earphones and now with Redmi Earbuds S. These headphones are surprisingly good for the price and definitely the best true wireless pair of earbuds.
With a combination of good design, helpful specs and clean, fun sound, the Redmi Earbuds S pretty much gets everything right given its price. It provides a comprehensive experience that costs several options that cost twice as much. If you are shopping for a new pair of wireless earbuds at a very reasonable price, this should definitely be on your list.
- Light and comfortable.
- Stable connection, low latency mode.
- Clean sound, calculated bass.
